How to setup device blocking
With
AccessPatrol’s block settings, you can effortlessly tailor your
security protocols to match your unique requirements. Safeguard your
digital assets by easily defining and enforcing restrictions on USB
devices, external drives, and network access. Maintain a secure
environment by blocking unauthorized data transfers and preventing data
leaks, safeguarding your organization’s intellectual property.
Setup device restrictions
- Select the AccessPatrol tab on the left-hand side of the console.
- Select the Manage option
- Click on a group of computers or users based on you being in PC or USER mode.
- From the AccessPatrol menu, select Device Permissions Button.
- At the top beside “Device Permissions for” – Select the group via the dropdown you want to set permissions for.
- Choose the device permissions you want to change from the dropdown list of options. You can choose individually from the 5 categories: Storage Devices, Wireless Devices, Ports, Imagining Devices and Other Devices.
- Storage devices have Full Access, Read Only, and No Access. All other options are Full Access and No Access.
- Bluetooth has an “Audio Only” option for headphones.
- The devices that are blocked will be listed in the CurrentWare Console main “Manage page” under the column Devices Blocked.
Read-Only Permission: Allows the user to read the file but cannot make changes to it. The user will not have the ability to create new files on the controlled devices. Read Only permission is available for storage devices only.
Note on System Restart: while the policy is updated instantly to the client computers, some restrictions involve updating the system drivers, and a system restart is required on the client computers.
Displaying a warning message when a device is blocked
You can customize the warning message your users will see when they insert a device is blocked by AccessPatrol.
- Select the AccessPatrol tab on the left-hand side of the console.
- Click on a group or a computer.
- From the AccessPatrol menu, select Device Permissions Button.
- Click on the Warning Message button
- Select Message Box from the drop down menu
- Type in your warning message
