Overview
The BambooHR integration syncs employee and leave data from BambooHR into CurrentWare. Approved time off in BambooHR is reflected in CurrentWare, so you get accurate reporting for users who are on leave.
Before You Begin
You will need:
- A BambooHR account with permission to create API keys
- Your BambooHR company subdomain
- Access to Integrations in the CurrentWare console
Step 1: Create a BambooHR API Key
- Log in to BambooHR.
- Click your profile icon and select API Keys.
- Click Add New Key.
- Give the key a name (for example, “CurrentWare”).
- Copy the key and save it somewhere secure. You won’t be able to view it again after you leave the page.

Step 2: Find Your BambooHR Subdomain
Your subdomain is the company name chosen when your BambooHR account was created. You can find it in your BambooHR URL:
https://dropjar.bamboohr.com → subdomain is dropjar
Step 3: Connect BambooHR in CurrentWare
- In the CurrentWare console, go to Integrations and select BambooHR.
- Enter your subdomain and API key

Under Fields synced, make sure the following are enabled:
- Employee ID (required)
- All Leave types (required)

- Save the integration.
Important: The integration will not work unless Employee ID and all Leave types are enabled.
Step 4: Map BambooHR Employees to CurrentWare Users
- Click Check for Updates to pull in the initial list of employees from BambooHR.
Map each BambooHR Employee ID to the matching Windows username using one of these methods:
- Manual: Enter the mappings directly in the console.

- CSV: Export the mapping list to CSV, fill in the Windows usernames, then import the file.

Step 5: Approve Leave in BambooHR
Only time off approved by a manager in BambooHR is synced to CurrentWare. Pending or unapproved requests are not included.
Step 6: Confirm the Sync
After mapping is complete, confirm the sync is working by checking that a user with approved leave in BambooHR shows that leave in CurrentWare.
Troubleshooting
- No employees appear after Check for Updates: Verify the subdomain and API key are correct, and that Employee ID is enabled under Fields synced.
- Leave isn’t showing for a user: Confirm the request was approved by a manager in BambooHR, all Leave types are enabled, and the user is mapped to the correct Windows username.
